Sentencing for Crack Now A Little Less Racist

Last year, Congress voted to reduce the federal sentencing guidelines for crack-related offenses and bring them a little bit more inline with the penalties for powdered cocaine. But how about all those inmates currently in prison? Thankfully, a governmental body known as the U.S. Sentencing Commission moved to apply the law retroactively.

Not surprisingly, some of the politicians who crafted the law are really pissed about this decision. They apparently had no intentions of interrupting current injustices. The ruling is expected to effect 12,000 or so inmates and surprise, surprise, 75% of them are black.
